Story

300 Years and counting.

Built in 1710, the Chesterfield Inn was originally called the reckless town tavern. an important landmark throughout its history, the Chesterfield Inn has been used as a stage- coach stop, a brothel and is now the oldest continuously running tavern in New Jersey. the Inn assumed its present size and appearance as some of the many innkeepers left their mark to accommodate the growing town. rumor has it that some have never left.

Our goal is to preserve this historic feeling and ambiance of this wonderful building, while providing our guests with a comfortable and satisfying experience. Working with local farmers, we use the freshest seasonal ingredients available. we hope you enjoy your visit with us and that we may continue the Inn’s long tradition as a gathering place for friends and family.
